Complex Behaviour

Defining challenging behaviour isn’t simple. Complex behaviour can show itself in many ways, with aggression, self-harm, destructiveness and disruptiveness just some of the behavioural problems that can prevent sufferers from participating in everyday activities. The support people with complex or challenging behaviour receive is therefore invaluable.

With an aim to communicate with, and understand and manage the needs of people with complex behaviour, we can get their quality of life back on track again.

Who We Help

Our experience-led, outcome-based care packages have already transformed people’s lives. Complex behaviour is seen in people from all walks of life. Most cases are the result of health issues that affect the brain and communication. Around one quarter of our clients have behavioural needs due to the presence of an acquired brain injury or a similar neurological condition.

If you are a family member, friend or carer who is finding it difficult to cope with the behaviour of the individual you look after, our specialists can assist.

How We Help

We support and supervise clients with all conditions. Our team is trained to recognise the early warning signs to prevent behavioural outbursts as well as meet a diverse selection of cognitive and physical needs. Through assessment we can establish the best course of action to ensure behavioural issues are managed and a higher quality of life achieved on an ongoing basis.

We believe that everybody should have the chance to live in their own home and within the local community. Access to the right support means every client has access to life’s many opportunities. Our carers play a vital role in the management of challenging behaviour, helping clients through:

  • Early intervention
  • Establishing relationships and clear lines of communication
  • Managing risk
  • Setting clear goals

Each care package we so proudly provide is built on a foundation of nurse-led care. We don’t just use best practice to make the lives of those presenting challenging and complex behavioural needs more fulfilling. We use the unique requirements of each client to develop an inspired plan that changes as the individual develops.

We are committed to upholding the highest standards of care and clinical excellence from day one. Our carers work with the client and their loved ones to provide support that in tune with them.

With unrivalled expertise in brain injury, mental health and complex behaviour, our fully trained carers provide ongoing management and supervision. Our ethos for continuous training – starting with a comprehensive, industry leading induction course, sees the most innovative techniques used within clients’ own homes.

Our approach is positive from start to finish, and we devise a care plan that suits the most difficult to support clients. In addition to preventing behavioural problems, building communication and working directly with people so they have the skills to manage their own feelings, we work closely with families and fellow health care professionals to ensure every story is a success.
